This One Thing

This One Thing

You know often time folks are busy with many things and u know what? Its fine, its not wrong nor a sin. But I strongly believe that we have reach a time where each person must know this one thing they need and desire the most. Saints the time has come for us to have such a attitude and mindset. I believe that this is one of the elements into the winning combination, the element of decisiveness and focus, the bible says a double minded person is unstable in all his ways. Note, its not just one of his ways but rather all his ways therefore lets not fall victim of this but lets rather have this one thing which we aspire to, seek, plan, visualize and pursue. These verses are words spoke by 3 most powerful men in the bible, David, Paul and Jesus Christ himself.

Allow me to try and analyze these words: This One Thing

This: Used to refer to the person or thing present, nearby, or just mentioned; Used to refer to what is about to be said; Used to indicate the nearer or the more immediate one, distinct from.
One:  distinct from all others ; Being a single entity, unit, object, or living being; existing as something particular; Being a single thing in contrast with or relation to another or others of its kind.
Thing: That which can be possessed or owned; An act, deed, or work; thought to have its own existence; concept considered as being a separate entity; a special situation.

Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
David is clear, decisive on what he wants and his actions towards it. He knows what his looking for and so sure of it “one thing i……….this is what I seek”.

Philippians 3:12-13
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
Paul also reaches a stage in his life where he has to take ownership and make a decision on what his one thing will be whether in a form of action  or decision. He knows that his future effectiveness depends on this, not doing everything but rather “ this one thing”.

Luke 10:38-42
Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Now this is the nail on our topic, Jesus Christ himself says these words “………..But one thing is needed…………..”. In most cases there is always one thing needed for anything to reach its full potential and ability. Here we learn that we have to choose this one thing, it will not be a friend, spouse or God himself who will choose for you but rather you yourself. Jesus says “….Mary has chosen that good part………”

The truth is I don’t know your “This One Thing” but I know that when and once you make such a decision things will start happening and moving forward. Your future getting brighter, you moving closer to your goal and destiny. Therefore I urge you to be bold like David, Mary and Paul why? Because when you have done so Jesus Christ promises us this “which will not be taken away from you”. It will not be taken away from you because you have chosen it and took that step of faith and made a decision. To some its getting Saved, to others it’s a Business plan or a proposal, and others its ministry work, etc but each individual knows his one thing. That I’m sure of, maybe to others its to let go of something and do something, confession, trust and forgiveness.

Please don’t be caught up with many things because only one thing is needed. Take time to find out what’s your one thing needed remember yours is different to mine.
